What happened

Meta has released a report detailing the results of its two-year partnership with the Singapore Police Force (SPF) to combat cybercrime and online fraud across its platforms. Through intelligence sharing and coordinated operations, the joint effort led to the identification and removal of over 113,000 financial and investment scam pages on Facebook and Instagram. Additionally, authorities neutralized more than 33,000 accounts tied to e-commerce scams. A major milestone of this collaboration was proactively detecting and shutting down 3.6 million dormant 'shell pages' before criminal syndicates could activate them for deceptive campaigns. Meta stated that these measures align with its ongoing strategy to enhance platform security, protect users from sophisticated financial scams, and remove malicious actors from its ecosystem.
